90's modern

I've had far too much time off lately. Which should mean many blog posts and the beginnings of all my entrepreneurial undertakings, alas, not much has come of my time yet. I'm hoping the motivational bug bites tomorrow.  As of now I am spending most of my time in house clothes. I thought getting dressed, putting on heels would get me going. All I have done today if finally bring some clothes to Salvation Army and cook curry for dinner. I plan to spend the rest of the evening cleaning as a clean space always relieves the stress that often keeps me bedridden.

I went for 90's vibes with the flannel, cropped sweater, and thigh highs.I really wanted to incorporate the barrette, so I threw my hair up in a sort of messy up-do. These shoes are probably my favorite. My sister and I bough them literally 12 yeas ago. I remember wearing them once in the 6th grade.

Asos is in my brain!

I think that Asos is currently living inside my brain. Bringing all my dreams to reality. Well to my computer screen where the price tags, lying somewhere between affordable and way to expensive just remind me how broke I really am. I made some fun themed wish lists. What marvelous prints they have! And what wonderful accessories. I am not a watch person, but I would proudly wear any of these.
If you are in a more financially stable place than I, everything here besides the glorious poodle blazer (better than the H&M one I never found?) is under $100.

oRGANIC

I am really trying to get a hang of basic photography, exposure, lighting, blah blah. But, my photos are kind of failing. I got a tripod for the holidays, which means I don't have to bargain for photos to be taken. I'm going to work on improving on this but for now I will share a few more shotty kitchen photos. I liked the layering in this outfit. I wanted it to feel really earthy and organic. The natural materials like the leather earring, wood bracelets, stones, and feather vest feel right together. The crochet and sunny scarf added a warm feel to the cold winter day!

Color combo

Mmmm orange and lavender. Absolute favorite color combination. Yesterday I went on a Salvation Army dig with Liz. A very solid thrifting partner, we found lots and lots of good finds. I was hesitant about this sweater but turns out I like it a lot. It is super cozy and quite soft. I loved the semi cropped as well as semi over-sized look of it. I tried to pair it with a lavender velvet tank I also thrifted pulled down as a skirt, alas it looked silly. I opted for this sheer feather printed slip. The fun hippy-dippy quilt scarf was also one of yesterdays finds. More to show soon!

"The clothes you chose are stylish, son. Why you gotta wear the gun?"

In the third grade my classmates really liked Hanson and Spice Girls. As if I didn't already stick out like a sore thumb, I couldn't even pretend to agree with them. With my family of hipster-ish bohemian-ish parents and two older sisters, my tastes were otherwise influenced. I pretty much idolized my oldest sister who, at the time, was a high school freshman into the 90's rave scene. I liked whatever music my sisters liked ( Hole, Nirvana, Green Day), or the stuff that played in my parents stereo ( Juliana Hatfield, Frente, Squeeze, Erasure). Honestly, I don' t know where my obsession with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones came from. I remember once mentioning my favorite band in the same third grade class, where I withstood the torment of my disdain for manufactured pop music.
"Oh yeah what's your favorite Mighty Mighty Bosstones song?" questioned one disbelieving boy.
"Royal Oil" I coyly offered up my opinion. (my 8 year old self unaware of it's topic of heroin addiction)
"That's not even a song of theirs." The other 'fan' boy said.

I guess I am just trying to say that I am cooler than everyone in my third grade class..... and that yesterday I proudly wore my Bosstones shirt, paired with faux-shearling, late 90's graphics, and Kelly green snake skin flats.
My sister got me the freakin cool long leather strip earrings for the holidays. I wanted to wear just one and mix it into a really texture and print heavy outfit. I liked it mingling with the vest and the proportion of it dangling past my waist line. I will come back and link the designer once I get the name from my sister!
