Garden of Horses

 

When I first saw this print peaking out of the crowded rack of my second favorite thrift store I pulled it half way out and then wedged it right back in. I started to walk away. My step almost complete, I reeled back around and pulled the shirt fully from its bar. Hanger in hand, I studied it a minute. I inched it back toward the rack and then one more second guess. I placed it in my armload of goodies. In the end I am happy that I parted with the $1.50 for this wacky button up. But the print, I just cant imagine the textile designer who found it necessary to put shaped hedges onto striped fabric. Nonetheless I think I love that person. It seemed the perfect companion for this skirt which I have had for ages but never wear anymore.

I really enjoyed this video from Aritzia. It made me want to hold an owl, be licked by a giraffe, and jump around wasting popcorn.

Early Passover Grunge

I have been watching too much My So Called life on Netflix the past few days resulting in wearing this flannel and mixing patterns a lot. There is quite a bit of hand me down love here with my moms cropped beater and motorcycle jacket. I dig the hem of this slip and wear it ten times more than the dress it came under.
We had a great Passover meal with an exceptionally decorated table, great food, and especially good deserts. Like these pink macaroons made by Lindsey. As usual, I was caught scraping the bowl of whipped cream clean.

Back in Chicago

I have returned to the fair city of Chicago. Happy to drink a vanilla chai shake at The Pick Me Up and be in the presence of Midwestern manners. The words "excuse me" and "thank you" are nice to hear.

Sequins in the sun

Well no, these sequins were not photographed in the sun but they did spend quite a bit of time there today. I love a good Sunday. It is surely a day to enjoy. On this particular day I experienced my first dim sum in China Town, which was quite delicious. After this I visited some shops in Soho with my roommate Gilly and her dear friend Helen. My vintage sequin skirt just happened to be a smash hit in Soho. Two people would die for it, another had a crush, and a few more liked or loved. Browsing in Prada an employee even said that Miuccia would love it.

space and skin

A new space is always an exciting thing. Even if it is only temporarily yours. Even if the only "decoration" really is clothing.I love o find new homes for things, especially in unusual spaces.
Slowly working through The Media is the Message. What has struck me most so far is Marshal McLuhan's vision of technology and media as an extension of the human or part of the person. It a really Beautifully designed book.
